The Rainbow Ballroom in Glenfarne was built in 1934 by John McGivern, a native of Brockagh, Glenfarne, on his return from the USA. It was a popular venue for showbands for many years.
The Ballroom continues to play a vibrant and important part in the local Glenfarne community. It was recently refurbished and now houses a small exhibition on the history of showbands in Leitrim. Aside from concerts, variety shows and ceili dances, The Rainbow Ballroom provides classes in dance, drama and music. It regularly hosts numerous fundraising charity events for local and national organisations.
